Your Wellness Routine Has Too Many ZIP Codes

Insider Info

After years of navigating IVF, Elinore and Dr. Michael Beck understood firsthand the importance of combining medical care with holistic support. Tired of driving across town for different appointments and treatments, they envisioned MEND as a place where practitioners could collaborate, care could feel more connected, and self-care wouldn't require a full tank of gas and a color-coded calendar.

Who decided getting healthy should require three appointments, four parking lots, and the scheduling skills of an air traffic controller?

Apparently, nobody asked Elinore and Dr. Michael Beck.

The Phoenix couple spent four years creating MEND Wellness, a new Arcadia collective where concierge medicine, yoga, acupuncture, massage, and an impressive lineup of other wellness services share one address.

The idea? Spend less time crisscrossing Phoenix and more time actually taking care of yourself.

An ER Doctor And A Yogi Walk Into A Wellness Center

It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but the Becks’ different backgrounds are precisely what makes MEND interesting.

Michael is an emergency medicine physician rooted in conventional Western medicine. Elinore’s world revolves around yoga, movement, and holistic wellness. Two different approaches to health, one marriage, and eventually, one ambitious business idea.

They didn’t simply rent a building and recruit practitioners. Over four years, the couple helped shape everything from the calming atmosphere to the services offered and the professionals invited to join.

Their vision was a place where medical care and complementary wellness practices could coexist without requiring patients to become their own healthcare travel agents.

One Roof. A Whole Lot of Wellness.

Here’s where things get interesting.

Someone could see a concierge physician, book a massage, receive acupuncture, visit a chiropractor, and take a yoga class without moving their car.

The lineup also includes men’s and women’s hormone health, medical weight management, nutrition support, Ayurveda, naturopathic medicine, Reiki, sound healing, aesthetics, fertility wellness, and IV therapy.

It’s practically a wellness department store, minus the escalators and aggressive perfume samples.

Couples can enjoy massage, Reiki, and sound healing together, while yoga memberships provide regular classes and preferred pricing on select services.

And rather than simply sharing office space, the practitioners are encouraged to collaborate, connecting different approaches to care while respecting each client’s individual needs.

More Than Appointments & Aromatherapy

Elinore, who also serves as MEND’s yoga director, wants clients to find something increasingly rare in modern healthcare: a sense of belonging.

That means familiar faces in yoga class, practitioners who know their clients, and a welcoming space where people can connect instead of simply checking another appointment off the calendar.

Even the name MEND reflects the Becks’ philosophy of healing, restoration, and caring for the whole person. It’s an ambitious idea, especially in a wellness industry that can make taking care of yourself feel suspiciously like a second job.

But perhaps the cleverest thing about MEND isn’t how many services it offers. It’s that, for once, getting well doesn’t have to mean getting back in the car.
