Axiom Care has spent more than a decade expanding its footprint in Arizona’s behavioral health space. Now, the organization is handing the reins to a leader who helped drive much of that momentum.
Danelle Trottier has been named chief executive officer of the Phoenix-based provider, which has delivered behavioral health services, substance use treatment, and recovery housing since 2012. She steps into the role after serving as chief operating officer since 2024, bringing more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health and addiction services management.
Her promotion follows what the organization describes as a period of significant growth. Under her operational leadership, Axiom Care expanded across Maricopa and Pinal Counties with new outpatient, residential, and transitional housing programs designed to meet critical gaps in Arizona’s recovery landscape.
That growth includes the Yideeską́ądi Hózhǫ́ǫ́jí Center, a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Navajo Department of Health. It also includes the expansion of the Ocotillo Campus of Care in Apache Junction, now home to a 60-bed residential treatment center, along with the opening of the Axiom Care Mofford Center, an outpatient integrated clinic. The John McCain Veterans Center at Victory Place further adds to the portfolio, offering transitional housing and treatment for low-income veterans.
Together, these efforts have positioned Axiom Care as one of Arizona’s largest providers of integrated behavioral health and recovery services, serving more than 4,000 individuals annually through its housing programs and licensed facilities.
“Danelle is a proven leader whose experience, vision and commitment to high-quality care make her the right person to guide Axiom Care into its next chapter,” says co-founder Vern Johnson. “She understands both the complexity of the systems we operate in and the human impact of the work that we do every day.”
Before joining Axiom Care, Trottier served as senior director of operations for Native American Connections, where she helped develop and license the Patina Wellness Center and Patina Mountain Preserve. Her work reflects a strong focus on culturally responsive care and community-centered programming.
Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles with Mountain Health and Wellness and Southwest Network, focusing on services for individuals with serious mental illness. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology from Minot State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Raised in a small farming community in North Dakota, Trottier began her career working directly with families navigating complex behavioral health challenges. That early experience continues to shape her leadership approach today.
“If there is one thing I have learned throughout my career, it is that recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and it does not happen in isolation,” says Trottier. “It takes access, it takes coordination, and most importantly, it takes people who are willing to show up every day with both expertise and compassion. At Axiom Care, we have built something truly special; a system of care that meets people where they are and helps them move forward with dignity. I am honored to lead this next phase of growth as we continue expanding access, strengthening partnerships and supporting our teams in delivering life-changing care across Arizona.”
Accredited by the Joint Commission and credentialed with all seven AHCCCS managed care organizations, Axiom Care also operates as a VA Community Care Network provider and is in network with TriWest. The organization’s model centers on serving financially vulnerable individuals while creating pathways to long-term recovery.
