Insider Info

Phoenix staycations are not here to whisper. They are here to float, snack, spa, repeat, and Hilton Phoenix Resort at The Peak clearly understood the assignment.

Phoenix does summer a little differently. Some cities get patio season. We get strategic pool plotting, indoor-outdoor logistics, and the annual question of which staycation actually earns its sunscreen.

Hilton Phoenix Resort at The Peak is making its case with two things happening at once: a new summer package for locals looking to cool off without leaving town, and a larger resort refresh that signals the longtime Valley property is not content to coast on nostalgia alone.

The resort’s STAY, SPLASH & SAVOR Package is available May 17 through Sept. 10 for stays of two nights or more. It includes spacious all-suite accommodations, unlimited access to River Ranch Water Park, and a $100 resort credit that can be used at The Living Room, Slim’s, or toward a spa treatment.

In other words, it is the classic Phoenix summer formula: find water, find shade, add snacks, repeat as needed. River Ranch brings the lazy river, slides, and poolside favorites, while the resort credit gives guests a little room to decide whether their version of relaxation involves a cocktail, a treatment, or something casual between dips.

A Bigger Refresh

But the package is only part of the story. The Peak is also in the middle of a bigger reposition following its acquisition by Pivotal Group in late 2024. The resort has unveiled the first phase of a $100 million refresh, including the debut of the Ocotillo Wing, formerly the South Tower.

“We’re not just renovating and updating the property,” says Julia Najafi, Pivotal Group Vice President & Principal. “We’re reimagining the hotel’s legacy in the community. This property has a history and story, and we’re honored to carry that forward, while also creating something elevated and incredibly exciting for current and new generations to experience.”

That balance matters for a resort with real Valley history. The Peak has long lived in the local mental map as a family-friendly, event-ready, water-park-adjacent escape at the base of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Now, it is trying to sharpen the edges without sanding off the parts people remember.

At the center of the refresh is The Living Room, a redesigned lobby experience built less like a check-in zone and more like a place to settle in. The indoor-outdoor space includes a large lobby bar, multiple seating areas, fire pits, and an all-day menu with shareable plates, flatbreads, sandwiches, salads, beer, wine, and cocktails.

Just off the lobby, The Pantry adds the practical vacation fuel: grab-and-go essentials, curated retail finds, local goods, and Starbucks coffee. Because even a lazy river day has to begin somewhere, and usually that somewhere involves caffeine.

The new Ocotillo Wing includes 208 upgraded all-suite accommodations with a more residential feel. The refreshed rooms lean into space, comfort, and modern design, giving the resort a more current look while keeping the all-suite setup that has helped define the property for years.

“These newly unveiled spaces represent an important step forward and milestone for Hilton Resort at the Peak,” says Dale Moseke, General Manager. “They provide an elevated guest experience and reflect a thoughtful approach that enhances how our guests arrive, stay, and connect, while respecting the legacy of a property that has long been part of the Phoenix community.”

The property is also still a major meetings-and-events player, with more than 60,000 square feet of flexible indoor and shaded outdoor event space. Its refreshed facilities include ballrooms, breakout rooms, open-air venues, and renovated outdoor gathering spaces such as the Ocotillo Courtyard and Anasazi Courtyards, framed by desert landscape and nearby Piestewa Peak.

“We’re incredibly excited and proud to unveil this latest phase of the resort’s transformation,” says Elie Khoury, Chief Operating Officer at Crescent Hotels & Resorts. “The reimagined property reflects our commitment to elevating the guest experience while honoring the character and legacy that make this property so special.”

So yes, The Peak is still very much a place for waterslides, lazy river laps, and the kind of summer day that requires a hat and zero ambition. But the bigger play is evolution. The resort is taking a familiar Phoenix staycation staple and giving it a more polished next chapter.
