Insider Info

Beginning Oct. 10, Children’s Art Classes North Scottsdale will offer themed art projects, dinner, games and a little breathing room for parents, all in one monthly workshop for ages 4 and up.

A parents’ night out can be hard to schedule when it means finding a sitter, planning dinner and making sure the kids have something genuinely fun to do. Beginning Oct. 10, Children’s Art Classes North Scottsdale will offer an answer for both sides of the evening with Kids Night Out, a monthly drop-in workshop series for children ages 4 and up. Held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month, the creative evenings invite young artists to make a themed project, share dinner, play interactive games and take home something they created, while parents reclaim a few hours for themselves.

“For parents, this is a chance to make dinner plans, run errands or simply have a quiet evening without needing to coordinate a whole lot around it,” says Sheila Gallegos, owner of Children’s Art Classes North Scottsdale. “For kids, it feels like their own special night out. They are creating, laughing, trying something new and leaving with a project they are excited to show off.”

Each $40 session includes high-quality art supplies, dinner, a beverage, games and a take-home project. Parents may add a 30-minute late pickup option for $10 per child.

The series is intended to be an easy, low-commitment way for new families to get to know the studio, which opened for the 2026–2027 school year and offers weekly fine art instruction for children and teens ages 3 to 18. Children do not need prior art experience to attend Kids Night Out.

“Not every family is ready to jump straight into a weekly class, and that is completely OK,” Gallegos says. “Kids Night Out lets them experience the studio in a relaxed, fun setting. Sometimes that one project is all it takes for a child to realize how much they love making art.”

Upcoming workshops will each have their own creative theme, from seasonal clay projects to bright acrylic painting.

The upcoming Kids Night Out schedule includes:

  • Clay Sugar Skull Halloween Party. Oct. 10, 2026. Students will design and sculpt their own clay sugar skulls, then bring them to life with beautifully colored glazes.
  • Capybara Clay Party. Nov. 14, 2026. Young artists will make a clay project inspired by the internet’s famously chill favorite animal.
  • Clay Winter Workshop. Dec. 12, 2026. A seasonal evening centered on hands-on clay art.
  • Clay Monster or Mug Workshop. Jan. 9, 2027. Young artists will learn pinch-pot, coil and drape-pot techniques while creating playful monsters, mugs or other imaginative clay creations.
  • Valentine’s Day Party. Feb. 13, 2027. Kids will use simple clay-building techniques to design and sculpt their own animal holding a heart.
  • Cute Kawaii Acrylic Painting. March 13, 2027. Students will learn to draw and paint adorable Kawaii characters using acrylics and watercolor.

Kids Night Out reflects the studio’s larger approach to art education: giving children room to make decisions, work with real materials and see that creativity does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. The studio’s regular programs use a structured, age-based curriculum that introduces drawing, painting, clay, color theory and other media while building skills over time.

“There is something powerful about watching a child create something they did not think they could make,” Gallegos says. “Whether they come once for a fun night with friends or discover a new creative passion, we want them to feel welcome here.”
