Emma Russello doesn’t command the room. She designs it.
At just 25, the Scottsdale native is the creative force behind the immersive dining experience at Kasai Japanese Steakhouse, the family-owned Valley staple celebrating 25 years of teppanyaki theatrics, community connection, and just the right amount of fire.
Russello serves as Kasai’s dinnertainment specialist, a role that blends precision hospitality with showmanship. If a table erupts in sparks, a dessert arrives with flair, or a moment feels effortlessly timed, odds are she had a hand in it.
A product of Arizona’s restaurant scene, Russello began working in hospitality at 15 and has held nearly every front-of-house position imaginable. After earning a business administration degree from Arizona State University, she landed an internship at Disney World, a turning point that sharpened her obsession with detail-driven guest experiences.
“Dinnertainment is built on precision and thrives in the details,” Russello says. “When every plate and every interaction is intentional, guests feel it.”
She brought that mindset home in 2022. Within three years, Russello helped scale Kasai’s private events program, elevated experiential dining across both Scottsdale and Peoria locations, and quietly infused global inspiration into the menu. The cult-favorite Dole® Pineapple Soft Serve Sundae nods to her Disney roots, while dishes like the Chicken Teriyaki Sushi Roll pull influence from her travels abroad.
Behind the scenes, she also directs Kasai’s curated experiences and philanthropic initiatives. To date, her efforts have helped funnel more than $100,000 back into the local community through Kasai’s annual charitable golf tournament, including recent partnerships with Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers.
On the floor, the impact is unmistakable. Flaming sugar cubes crown desserts. Giant sparklers mark birthdays and anniversaries. Teppanyaki chefs send onion towers sky-high in carefully choreographed bursts of flame. Guests sit side by side with strangers, phones down, laughing together before the first course even lands.
That communal energy is intentional.
“By championing interactive dining at Teppanyaki tables, our goal is to cultivate real human connection in an era of digital distraction,” Russello says.
Her father, Kasai owner Michael Russello, has watched the evolution up close. “She’s taken it further and made it her own,” he says. “I’m proud to see her leading the next generation of Kasai while honoring what we’ve built.”
She may not be the loudest voice in the room, but make no mistake. Emma Russello is shaping how Scottsdale dines, one perfectly timed moment at a time.
